Discuss the societal impact of innovation and entrepreneurship

This program blends theory and practice to provide you with the opportunity to enhance your understanding of sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship. You will have the chance to reflect on the skills needed to either set up a new venture or bring an innovative and entrepreneurial vision into an existing organisation.

You will have the opportunity to cover aspects of value creation, the management of innovation and the challenges faced by new ventures. You will also be able to draw upon your own experiences and discuss real-life and case study examples to explore how to recognise the types of structural change that can lead to entrepreneurial opportunities and innovation.

Cherisse Hoyte is an associate professor of entrepreneurship in Coventry University’s International Centre for Transformational Entrepreneurship. Her area of expertise is entrepreneurial sensemaking.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this program, you should be able to:

  • Critically discuss a range of theories, frameworks, models and methods of innovation management at the individual and organisational level

  • Critically discuss a range of theories, frameworks, models and methods of enterprise and entrepreneurship development at an individual and organisational level

  • Apply theories, frameworks, models and methods of innovation management, enterprise and entrepreneurship to a new venture or in another entrepreneurial/entrepreneurial context

  • Demonstrate an understanding of value creation through the interconnection of innovation and entrepreneurship in the development, survival and sustained growth of a business or social enterprise
