Skip to 0 minutes and 1 secondHello. My name's Chloe.

Skip to 0 minutes and 3 secondsWelcome to the Aim Higher: Access to English for Refugees and Asylum Seekers course. Hi. My name's Sarah, and I'm one of the mentors for this MOOC. Welcome to the MOOC. It's really great to see so many participants from all over the world. For example, we've got students from Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Iraq, and the UK. The point of this MOOC is to provide you with all the information you need to access higher education in the UK. We hope we can help you with any questions you might have about this.

Skip to 0 minutes and 31 secondsSo if you do have questions, it's really important to keep asking in the comments boards, because either one of the mentors or one of your fellow students will get back in reply and give you the information you need. So please keep asking. Don't be shy. As well as forced migrants, it is really fantastic to have so many people from other communities who want to help out. For example, we've got Marta from Universities UK and Raphaela from the University of London. So welcome to all the allies. There are lots of questions at the moment about scholarships and bursaries, and we hope we've answered all of these questions in Step 1.5.

Skip to 1 minute and 6 secondsBut again, if we haven't, please keep asking in the comments boards. OK. And next week, coming up, we have lots of information about the university application process and how to go about making your application, including some helpful advice on how to write your personal statement. And just a message to people who may not have actually actively joined in the course yet, you can join at any point over the next few weeks. So come in, start the conversations, and start learning along with all the other students. Thank you. Thank you.

End of week video

Coming up next week

Note - this video will be added on Friday of Week 1 so we can talk about the discussion and questions we’ve received during the week.

Here’s a quick overview of what we will cover in week two of ‘Aim Higher’.

We’ll explore how the application process works and how to write your application, including your personal statement. We’ll help you understand the English language skills you’ll need for success and help you put a learning plan in place.
