Other ways to study

You might have to wait a while until you start university, but there are lots of free, online courses you can be doing while you wait. These kind of courses will:

  1. Provide you with evidence of your learning
  2. Help prepare you to study and communicate in English
  3. Be useful for your CV

MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are run by some of the best universities in the world. MOOCs are usually free for you to join and study on but sometimes, there may be some paid features.

Coursera have a specific link for refugees which allows refugees access to their courses for free.

MOOCs are a great way to learn online but there are other ways. For example, TED talks have new content every day, and subject-specific playlists you can use to find content relevant to your area of study.

Task: Look at the courses available in these places and choose the one you would most like to do. Share it in the comments and say why you would like to do it. What other sites do you know of that have useful courses? Share these sites and your experiences of any courses you have done.
