四世同堂 (sì shì tóng táng)

This expression describes four generations under one roof, including parents, sons and daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  • Members in the traditional family live in harmony with each other.
  • The young should be respectful and filial to the elder members.

It is reasonable that parents should bring up their children. In return, parents can enjoy support and care from their children when they are older instead of living in home for the elderly.

Nowadays it is not uncommon for old people to live in home for the elderly. However, it is hard for the senior to accept this new pratice in small cities.

How about your country? The senior prefer living in home for the elderly or with their children? Why? Welcome to share it with us.
