Experimental archaeology: making a headdress
This is an additional video, hosted on YouTube.
Please note that this film contains some footage which might upset some viewers. The deer that was used in this film was ethically sourced from the Red Deer Society.
Once Ben had finished his analysis we still had some questions about how the headdresses had been made. This is where experimental archaeology comes in. Working with our an expert in experimental techniques, Diederik Pomstra, we developed a method for making a headdress.
The details of this experiment and our conclusions can be found in this free, online paper.
