Knowing when to do tasks is just as important as knowing what tasks to do. Some people call themselves ‘an early bird’ while others may call themselves ‘a night owl’. That’s because some people prefer the morning to tackle their most demanding work, while others prefer later in the day.
Whether you are solving problems, making important decisions, or tackling more demanding work, it is best done when you’re at your peak. This time is often called ‘prime time’ because it’s when you are at your most productive.
To know when that is, ask yourself these two questions:
- When do you feel at your best during the day?
- When do you find it hardest to concentrate?
We have created a template with a graph for you to plot your concentration levels over the day. Important tasks should be done during your prime time, while less important tasks should be done when you find it more difficult to concentrate. Download the template and save it to your portfolio.
