Skip to 0 minutes and 2 secondsClinical reasoning within rehabilitation is depend on patient movement performance analysis. Current strategies for monitoring rehabilitation progress are based on subjective time-consuming assessment scale, not often applied. Wearable monitoring devices are rapidly becoming a recognized option in rehabilitation for quantitative measures. We have designed it into the wearable rehabilitation movement monitoring system with the database hospital and home-side interface with voice guide. So current system architecture is shown users are able to record the angular position of limbs during rehabilitation process and the recording file will be uploaded to the database and be download by therapist for analyzing the result and adjusting description via internet.

Skip to 1 minute and 15 secondsThis is six requested movement. Devices on upper arm record shoulder flexion, shoulder extension, and shoulder abduction.

Skip to 1 minute and 28 secondsAnd the other device will record elbow flexion, forearm pronation, and forearm supination. The yellow marker signify device one and green one is device two. Most the devices and markers are placed at the same position. The performance of estimation algorithm could be evaluated, comparative to Vicon system. To test the accuracy of proposed orientation estimation of algorithm.

Skip to 2 minutes and 8 secondsThe wearable device is fixed on a single axis motor MX-28 and plastered 3 Vicon marker.

How does the wearable monitoring device work?

Stroke rehabilitation should be started as quickly as possible. Most return of function is seen in the first few months. The period of rehabilitation could last from a few days to over a year.

In this video, I will introduce the wearable device we are using in the hospital. Due to its portable size, it is possible to be set up in a patient’s household to facilitate regular rehabilitation.
