Healthy and constructive conflict is a key component of all high functioning teams. But how do you prevent it from becoming destructive?

On the course, you’ll learn how to succeed at managing conflict in the workplace.

You’ll explore the different methods of conflict management and learn conflict resolution skills and techniques, including the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI).

This powerful technique is a leading measure of conflict-handling. It shows you whether you’re overusing or underusing one or more of five conflict-handling modes: collaborating, competing, compromising, accommodating, and avoiding.

    • Types of teams

      Exploring the definitions of a team, the types of team and the desirable characteristics of a modern healthcare team.

    • What makes a high performing, effective team?

      How do we recognise the elements of a high-performance/ effective team and the contributory factors?

    • How to build and develop a team

      Techniques to build and develop teams effectively in order that they become high performing and self-managing.

    • Summary of Week 1

      In this section we look back on what we have learned and what we will learn next week.

  • Week 2

    Leading and managing today’s healthcare teams

    • Introduction to Week 2

      Within the healthcare environment there are many internal and external influencing factors. Having an awareness and strategies to successfully navigate these leads to success and high performance of healthcare teams.

    • How to lead and manage today

      How to lead and how to manage modern healthcare teams.

    • Conflict resolution

      Conflict will always be present in the workplace. Anticipating issues and addressing them as well as managing conflict when it occurs is a skilful practice required by today’s healthcare leaders and managers.

    • The coaching approach

      In short, coaching is about helping someone perform a skill or solve a problem better than they would otherwise have been able to and bringing about improvements at work; especially where a change in performance is required.

    • Summary of Week 2

      In this section we look back on what we have learned and what we will learn next week.
