Drexler/Sibbet team performance model

It takes time for a new team to 'gel' and understanding group dynamics, both in team situations, and individual temperaments are important.

As we have mentioned before, teamwork can’t just be switched on. It takes time for a new team to ‘gel’ and an important part of this is understanding group dynamics in terms of both team situations and individual temperaments.

Another team formation model is the Drexler/Sibbet Team Performance Model. The stages in this model are:

  • Orientation – Why am I here?
  • Trust Building – Who are you?
  • Goal Clarification – What are we doing?
  • Commitment – How will we do it?
  • Implementation – Who does what, when, where?
  • High Performance – Wow!
  • Renewal – Why continue?

The first four steps are about forming a team and the last three are about achieving higher levels of performance.
