This involves making sure that communities, firefighting organisations and others are prepared should a disaster strike. This means keeping up training and increasing the number of volunteer firefighters available to assist.

10) Planning for recovery

Along with an effective response our communities and governments should be planning recovery before a bushfire even strikes. This includes researching better methods for building fire-resistant housing and stockpiling items like emergency beds which might be needed in an evacuation.
