Quotes and Orders Summary

.

Part of the sales process is closing the deal, moving from quote to invoice.

In this section, we looked at those quotes, orders, and invoices and the part they play in the lifecycle of a sale.

We looked at the two ways that quotes can be created. First from an opportunity and also by creating quotes as standalone. Once a quote is created from the opportunity, the data from the opportunity does not refresh on that quote.

For example, you have an opportunity with one or more quotes attached and you edit that opportunity. These new opportunity details are not automatically carried on to the already created quotes.

Any changes to those quotes will need to be manually completed by a user. We looked at how a quote can be activated and revised and sent to a customer using the work template function.

We then looked at the functions of the order and how in some situations it is at this point that your Dynamics 365 for Sales system could be integrated to another application such as an ERP system or a finance system.

And in closing, we looked at how the final step of this process, the invoice. We discussed that if your Dynamics 365 for Sales was integrated with another system that managed the invoice process that a read-only version of the invoice could be made available in Dynamics 365 for Sales.

In the following activity, we will investigate sales analytics and insights.
