You have now completed Week 1 of this course. Well done!

In this first week of the course you have considered perspectives on teacher expertise and teacher learning from research, from your own experience and from colleagues on the course.
Being clear about the principles of expert teaching and teacher learning on which your ECF provision is founded will enable you to develop a robust, coherent programme of provision which is aligned with wider school goals and vision.

You have heard directly from ECTs who have engaged with some of the material available on the full and core induction programmes available to support ECT induction.
What do you want your ECTs to say about their learning and about the support they receive as they develop in your setting?

You have also spent some time looking critically at the ECF itself. As with any framework intended to apply across the education sector, you will need to contextualise your ECF provision to reflect the characteristics of your setting.
How will you shape your induction provision for ECTs so that it delivers the ECF as well as meeting wider needs that aren’t addressed within the framework?

You are now ready to move on to Week 2 of the course: Implementing the Early Career Framework.
