Government actions for the energy transition

This step of the course asks learners to review the "Three Decades of Carbon Markets Success" paper by the Environmental Defence Fund.

Governments can in many ways combat environmental problems and work for the energy transition. In this step, we will have a look at some examples of actions that have been taken in the previous decades.

The Environmental Defence Fund (EDF) has provided an overview of actions that governments all over the world have taken in the past. Have a look at the timeline they have compiled – you can access the document at the bottom of the page or directly through this link.

How would you describe what has happened over the timeline? Are the events related to each other, is there a trend to be found? You can post your thoughts in the comments below and discuss with your fellow learners.
