Life below water includes research and teaching about marine conservation. Marine conservation includes organisms and plants found in the sea and how all of these things connect with each other. In other words, marine conservation means studying eco-systems (living systems that are connected to each other). The University runs an aquatic studies outreach programme as well as a public aquarium. It is called the Otago Marine Studies Centre. In 2019 more than 15,000 people took part in educational programmes related to this centre.

  2. A, C and E are the correct synonyms for “affect.”
  3. “Eco” is short for “ecology.” Ecology is the study of organisms. “Eco-system” then means how ecology is related to the “systems” around it. These could be environmental systems, economic systems, or even social systems.
