Introduction to week 1

Intro to week 1
1.7
Welcome to week one of Fortran for Scientific Computing. This week will help you set up your system so that you have a development environment appropriate for Fortran. There are options for all major operating systems, Windows, macOS and Linux. Then we’ll cover the basics of Fortran, so that you are able to write very simple programmes, nothing special. We will go more in-depth in later weeks. It’s important that you do the capstone exercises, because those are the ones which actually will teach you the most. Alright, have fun and let’s start.

In this week you will get instructions to set up your software environment. Next, you will learn the basics of Fortran. At the end of this week, you will be able to write your first applications, and do some interesting computational experiments.
