2. This is how Carla introduces Marta to João:
Esta é a minha amiga, Marta. = This is my friend, Marta.
She could also say:
Esta é a minha amiga. = This is my friend.
Or simply:
Esta é a Marta. = This is Marta.
3. Look at the table and compare how to introduce a male and a female friend.
* What is between brackets is optional. You don’t need to use ‘the’. Either way sounds natural.
