Welcome to Week 1

Educators introduce week 1 content
8.9
Hello, and welcome to week one of genomics for educators. Now just as a reminder, we’re not going to be teaching you what genomics is in this course. There’s loads of other ones out there for that. Instead, we are going to be providing you, as an educator, a toolkit to help you discuss genomics with your students. This week we’re going to be thinking about different ways of teaching genomics in the classroom. We’ll be thinking about the difference between genetics and genomics, we’ll be highlighting some useful analogies, and we’ll be discussing how to tackle misconceptions in genomics. As you progress through this course, you’ll be finding out all the different ways that genomics can apply to different areas of your curriculum.

We’ll be chatting to subject experts who will have their top tips for teaching genomics and their favourite activities, no matter what the budget. We really look forward to starting this course with you. Please let us know in the discussion what you’re most looking forward to.
