Grammar 2 (Verb-(으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ + N)

Grammar 2 (Verb-(으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ + N)
Let’s study in detail about the expressions we learned today.

Verb-(으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ + N

In this week, we studied how to explain the meaning of anniversary. However, the grammar ‘Verb-(으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ’ was used to describe nouns. This grammar is used in different forms depending on the verb tense.

First, the past of the verb is combined with the form ‘-(으)ㄴ’. And the present ‘-는’ and the future ‘-(으)ㄹ’ are combined.

For example, when the verb “받다(receive)” modifies the noun “선물(gift),” it means “받았다 + 선물 → 받은 선물” in the past, “받다 + 선물 → 받는 선물” in the present, and it will be “receive” in the future, “받을 거다 + 선물→받을 선물”. Detailed usage methods are summarized in the table below.

동사의 과거(the past of a verb) 받침x, ‘ㄹ’ Verb -ㄴ 본 영화, 만든 케이크
  받침o -은 입은 옷
동사의 현재(the present of a verb) 받침x, ‘ㄹ’ Verb -는 보는 드라마, 만드는 음식
  받침o -는 입는 옷
동사의 미래(The future of the verb) 받침x, ‘ㄹ’ Verb -ㄹ 볼 영화, 만들 음식
  받침o -을 입을 옷
