Introduction for lesson 1

What will be covered in this online course for VR programming and game design? Watch lecturer Thomas as he outlines the learning outcomes.
Hello, everyone. And welcome to our first video tutorial for our Introduction into Programming and Unity. In this video tutorial, we will cover the course outline for our first term out of a total of four terms worth of programming and projects. The team here at VR Voom has many experiences in teaching young learners about virtual reality game design and programming. The number one reward for us to hear is that our students telling us that they’re proud of their own VR project, which I hope that at some point in the stage of you developing your own games you’ll have the same experience. So let’s move over to the outline for our first term worth of programming.
To begin with, we’ll cover learning the basic data types that most programming languages use. Then we’ll move on to how computers read and process instructions and how we can create code from this. After that, we’ll learn how to write a basic code and how to use variables. Then we’ll learn how to construct solutions to complex problems, as well as learning how to break them down. Then we’ll practise a little bit of programming skills with creating a text-based game. And to end with, we’ll create our very own basic 2D game inside of Unity to learn how Unity itself works. So that’s it for this first video tutorial.
It’s just a quick outline of what we will be learning in our first term worth of projects and programming. Stay tuned for our next video tutorial. We’ll be learning the basics of data types and begin our programming adventure from there. [AUDIO LOGO]
