That’s it for Week 1 – you should now be able to meet the Learning Outcomes for Week 1, which were:
- Explain what is meant by the Rule of Law and appreciate the importance of the principle
- Understand the different interpretations of the Rule of Law, and determine which definition you prefer
- Identify potential breaches of the Rule of Law by examining some examples
Next we will be moving on to look at how judges in the UK uphold the Rule of Law to protect our rights against “the Executive”, ie the UK government and other public organisations, in the form of Judicial Review.
