This time we are going to use motivic element 3 because it is easier than using motivic element 2. Motivic element 3 remember is. Well you can imagine that if we do that all the way through it’s going to sound slightly tedious but, nonetheless, it is an exercise. We’ll mostly use that but we’ll put in a few more things to make it slightly musical. But the idea is to show that you can use these motivic elements and you can do something with them.

We explore how we might improvise on “Blue Monk” using the third motivic element from the tune.
