Week 1 learnings

Summary of the first week's learnings

We hope you have enjoyed this first week with us.

We learned more about each other and explored the main topic of this course: Learning through play.

This week, we have been thinking together about re-defining play and re-imagining learning to ensure children develop the necessary skills for navigation in an uncertain and complex world.

You have learned how to:

  • Recognise the holistic skills that children develop when they play and how those skills are critical to learning.

  • Identify the five characteristics of playful learning: joyful, actively engaging, meaningful, iterative, and socially interactive.

  • Understand the benefits of learning through play.

  • Facilitate for teaching learning through play activities

Together we have developed a better understanding for learning through play and are ready to go to the next step.

Learning all about LEGO Braille Bricks will consolidate a foundation for teaching students with visual impairment.

The playful activities, holistic skills and tips and tricks covered will allow creation of complete lesson plans using this amazing tool.
