Watch children

Watch children parking their car!

We have watched Elias, partially sighted and Noah, born blind playing “6-Car Parking Lot”.

Let’s highlight the adaptive preparation and facilitation used in this activity.

Allow ample exploration time: vision is rapid, touch takes longer.

Sight allows global discovery, whereas blindness limits access to the small portion of what can be read with the fingers. Exploration can be accompanied with movement: Marie guided Noah’s hands to help him find each dot.

Our solution to contain the dice on the table was to use the lid of the toolkit.

Can you think of other ways to adapt and facilitate this multiple step activity?
