Weekly summary

Summary of week one for the managing the practical classroom course.
This week we focused on:

  • Health and safety and department policies
  • Room layout, laboratory routines and rules
  • The importance of behaviour management in the laboratory

Many of these aspects operate at the departmental level. During week two we shall begin to focus on creating the right climate and culture for learning in the practical classroom. This will extend the ideas of routines, behaviour management and start with a clear purpose to practical work in your science teaching.
