Interactive Forms of Scientific Publication

Science has affected our lives in many different ways. However, scientific publishing has not changed that much. Nowadays, we publish scientific papers in a digital format, usually a PDF file. Despite this advancement, not much has changed.

The paper itself still looks the same, although there are opportunities to get more out of an article. Imagine a scientific article describing a model based on several parameters, such as a climate model that predicts global warming based on the number of cars. A static paper cannot effectively describe several different scenarios. Why not have an interactive publication where readers can try out different parameter settings and see how the change affects the output? That is not easily possible with PDF documents. Nevertheless, there are some interesting approaches to make scientific findings more interactive. Just check the video and learn more.
