Sitting is the New Smoking

The corporate culture of sitting at work, desk-bound in offices is finally being questioned, as it may not be the most productive environment for everyone. With ‘work from home’ options, and inspiring workspaces with ergonomic chairs, stand up desks and in-house massages for stressed-out office workers, the fact remains that we still do not move enough.

The minimum requirements for incidental activity are not being met by the population (in any OECD nations) in sufficient amounts to receive the health benefits for posture, healthy weight maintenance, cardiovascular health, mental health, bone health, metabolic risk factors and more.

Be mindful today of how much time you spend sitting, try to measure the amount of time, and reflect upon your general habits. Roughly how much time per day do you spend sitting? Is that a number you would like to decrease?
