Week 1 Wrap-up

The wrap-up of the week summarizes the learning in Week 1 and gives a taste of what is to come in Week 2.

Well done for reaching the end of Week 1!

We hope that you have enjoyed the course so far and that you have learned something new.

During this first week of the course, you learned to navigate the FutureLearn platform and met the course team and fellow learners. We started by hearing from the voices of children. Together we explored the dynamic nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and the public health measures that can be put in place in response. We ended the week by reflecting on the potential impact of public health measures on child protection services for children. Through discussions, you have also been invited and encouraged to consider the stage of the pandemic as well as public health measures and implications for children in your context.

Moving into Week 2, we will focus on the specific child protection risks and protective factors associated with COVID-19. You will be introduced to the standards and principles that guide our collective child protection work during COVID-19. Don’t forget to engage with and listen to children’s voices throughout this journey. Children are the best guides on the reality of their own situations and needs.
