Fox’s Journey

Fox’s route is shown on the map below – we do not know his exact route.

He only first dictates a journal some ten years after the events of 1652 but this map can give us a rough idea of the way he went.

He went north from Pendle Hill, to Airton where he knew he would find a welcome from Major General Lambert, whom James Nayler served under in the Civil War, Then he went to Dent, before arriving in Sedbergh.

You might like to compare this map with a present-day version if it helps you see where places are.
