Welcome to the second week of the course! Here we will give a brief taster in terms of what is coming up during the week ahead:

This week, we will address these learning outcomes:

  • Explain the concept of sustainability and evaluate its significance to marketing.
  • Explain the concepts of the Circular Economy and carbon footprint, and discuss what opportunities and challenges they pose to businesses and consumers.

First up, we will learn more about the climate emergency and the concept of sustainability. We will hear from Christiane Dolva, Head of Sustainability at Fjällräven, the Swedish outdoor equipment brand. Prof Karl Williams will explain about plastics pollution and carbon footprints. You will have the opportunity to calculate the size of yours!

You will be able to test your understanding of key concepts in a quiz and if you are an upgraded learner, then there will be an end-of-week test. Please do pay careful attention whilst engaging with the content, so that you will tackle the questions with confidence. You will also be writing a sustainability-related blog post. Please keep this in mind whilst you are addressing the various task, as this will enable you to develop your ideas as you go along.

Enjoy your week! Please do take part in the opportunity to discuss with fellow learners throughout the week!
