An example of how SWNZ works

SWNZ example

SWNZ is very proactive. For example: They create and publish factsheets ahead of the new grape growing season. These publications are distributed to all New Zealand Winegrower’s members

In their latest factsheet SWNZ notified all growers that there is a change away from ‘all agrichemical products approved for use on grapevines’. The change and new direction is towards a more ‘Sustainable’ approach’.

Wine growers are now being directed to the human health and environmental factors especially when using sprays. Guidelines for members are to now consider their spray plans in regard to sustainability and best practice. A blanket spray schedule for ‘non-environmental friendly’ spays is not acceptable. Guidelines have been written for pest and disease management of grapes, grape vines and weeds. These guidelines specifically target information agrichemical handling and application.
