Course Topics Introduction

Course introduction.

As a medical university, TMU’s response towards supporting SDG is especially focused on SDG target3, Good Health, and Well-being. We will explore different topics for sustainable policy-making and supportive SDG projects and action.

Below are the topics from each week: – Week 1: Introduction of SDG3. TMU’s feature projects for SDGs. TMU has responded to SDGs in three aspects, campus, society and worldly. We hope that through these projects we can gather more interest and response.

  • Week 2: Water quality and sanitation. SDGs 3 and 6 are both related to this week’s topic. SDG 6 aims to ensure access to clean water and sanitation for all. This includes improving water quality, increasing water efficiency, and ensuring access to safe and affordable drinking water and basic sanitation. SDG 3: Access to clean water and sanitation is vital for preventing the spread of waterborne diseases and promoting good health and well-being.
  • Week3: Mosquito diseases and prevention Mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, Zika virus, and yellow fever are significant public health challenges in many parts of the world. Preventing and controlling these diseases requires a multi-pronged approach that includes measures to reduce mosquito populations and protect individuals from mosquito bites.
  • Week4: Air pollution Air pollution can cause a range of health problems, from respiratory diseases to heart disease and cancer. Reducing air pollution is vital for achieving good health and well-being for all.
  • Week5: Bioindicator Bioindicators can be used to monitor progress toward achieving the SDGs. Water quality monitoring using bioindicators such as macroinvertebrates can help track progress toward achieving SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
  • Week6: Mental Health SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) includes a target to “promote mental health and well-being” by 2030. This target recognizes the importance of mental health and the need for strategies to promote and protect mental health at all stages of life.
