This activity explores the relation between nature and culture.

Nature and culture can be seen as separate from one other. This means that nature is set apart from humans. Alternatively, we can view nature and culture as entwined with one another. In doing so, we recognize our dependencies on and alliances with nature.

In this activity you will learn:

  • The meanings of the terms “Anthropocentrism” and “Ecocentrism”

  • Why it matters if nature and culture are seen as separate from one another or entangled with each another.

  • How to relate to the environment as a living ecosystem
