How does the Skills Builder framework work?

The Skills Builder framework breaks down skills into steps which can be mastered one at a time by students. Watch this video explaining how it works.

The Skills Builder framework is a tool designed to break down core skills into small steps which can be mastered one at a time by students. So how does it work?

To begin, the framework takes each skill and breaks it down into sixteen steps, from step 0 through to step 15. The steps are progressive, so it makes sense for students to start at the beginning and work through in order. This reflects what you learned in Week 1 – it can be difficult to learn some of the more complex steps if some of the earlier ones have not already been mastered.

We’ll start by looking at the framework for teamwork. Watch the video to find out more.

Over to you

Choose one of the other skills from the framework. Look at the step descriptions and think about how a student might work through the different steps. When would you expect the steps to be achieved?
