Some general tips from Rob then learners share advice with each other.
Hi. By now you should have a good idea of exactly what you need to do in each part of the speaking test, and some tips to help you along the way. To finish off this activity, I want to give you a few more tips to help you in all parts of speaking. First, talk as much as you can in a natural way. The examiner needs to hear your English to be able to give you a good band score. Of course, you want your English to be as accurate as possible, but don’t let that stop you being fluent. Next, don’t prepare your answers before the interview.
By that, I mean don’t try to memorise a particular answer to use in the interview. It won’t sound natural. And the examiner will notice it, which won’t make things easier. You can practise the sort of things you want to say, especially in part 1, but don’t memorise set answers. Finally, relax. Be confident. And try to enjoy yourself. And you won’t feel as nervous in Exams. That’s normal. But examiners are human, too. They’re not monsters and there’s no need to be scared of them.
