Welcome to the second week of the course! So far we have defined syndromic testing, and learned about its value in patient care and disease diagnosis – in the context of meningitis and respiratory infections. We have also looked at AMS and the role of syndromic testing in existing AMS programs.

This final week will focus on analysing the benefits and hurdles of syndromic testing, whilst highlighting the need for a multidisciplinary team approach to be taken when interpreting tests and reviewing data.

Through case studies, we will highlight the unmet rapid diagnosis needs present in acute units and paediatric settings which rapid syndromic testing could fulfil. We will also discuss the value of syndromic testing in improving AMS in a paediatric setting.

Finally, we will look further at the value syndromic testing holds in AMS programs, using cases to exemplify how syndromic testing can be used to improve AMS.

We hope you enjoy the final week of the course. Let us know in the comments section below what you are most looking forward to learning this week.
