This is like if you are having engineering background.

This is actually from a scientific foundation. Then after that and you find a way to do that. So your management approach, how do your reach this target or how do you reach this goal. Then this third step is you go ahead do it. And you really put this target or this goal into a real thing. Then the last step is you go to the first step and correct conected management result. This is a wonderful loop. You can see that. Um... The idea itself is no problem,right. Because it is easy. You set a target.

You said well...we just get the number what we have, we just use the data what we have. Yeah, this is true. But um... I just had a lecture last night. I talk about to my students about errors. How do we know this measurement is correct? You know, the error, the two parts is a measurement error. And you also have the um... when you do the catch calculation errors. So this is how do we know this target is good enough is correct? Because this is really rely on the data we collected before, right.

This will be affected by the technology. So you can see this whole major fishery, is...a lot of steps rely on the technology we have. Like how do we set a goal. How do we get a feedback? Everything is about how do we do the management. OK.

Management of Fisheries

In this video, Prof. Wu first tells the management of fisheries. Modern fisheries management is often referred to as a governmental system of appropriate management rules based on defined objectives and a mix of management means to implement the rules, which are put in place by a system of monitoring control and surveillance.

The framework works like this: first, we need to establish a scientific foundation. Then we have management methods and start to implement. After that, we observe the results and improve the method.
