Skip to 0 minutes and 0 secondsThis brings us to the end of the open unit of our course on emergency planning and preparedness. We hope that you’ve already found these to be really useful to your practice as an emergency planner. But there’s a great deal more to emergency planning and the art of emergency planning that we’ve been able to cover here. Over the next eight weeks we will be looking at what goes into building really affective emergency preparedness.

Skip to 0 minutes and 36 secondsWe’ll start by taking a look at risk-based approaches to emergency planning and we’ll look at how that risk informs the style and nature of emergency plans that you’ll start to build, whether they’re community or industrial, whether they’re emergency services or humanitarian actors, and whether they’re local or truly global. We’ll examine the challenges of building full scale emergency plans, looking at the issue of structures and stakeholders and we’ll look at what it takes to implement and maintain emergency arrangements. By the end of this module you’ll understand what it takes to build emergency planning and preparedness arrangements all over the world. We’ll also equip you with the underpinning academic techniques that enable you to critique emergency plans wherever you find yourself.

Skip to 1 minute and 22 secondsWe look forward to joining you on this journey.
