Read and learn the vocabulary

Learning a language means learning vocabulary. This is not always easy, but we will help you!

Below you will find the transcripts of the dialogues you heard, with the English translation. Read the text and the translation.

Many people participate in this course, but not everyone has the same learning goals or time available. If you only want to get acquainted with a few Frisian words, learning the phrases will be enough for you.

However, if you want to really learn Frisian, we advise you to learn the vocabulary and the phrases that we have published on Quizlet.

Memorising by Quizlet

Quizlet is a worldwide educational service, with tools enabling anyone to study whatever they want. Quizlet’s free study tools and apps are used by over a million students and teachers around the world every day.

In this course we will use Quizlet for vocabulary learning. There are three sets of words and phrases on Quizlet – one for each week of the course. Furthermore, each grammar section has a direct link to Quizlet, allowing you to practise the various grammar points.

Registering on Quizlet

You don’t have to, but you can register on Quizlet. This will allow you to track your own learning progress and scores. We, as teachers, are able to view the overall progress of the class and see how you studied, and use this data to improve our Introduction to Frisian course. If you haven’t done so already, you can click this link so that you will be automatically added to our class. You might like to open this link in a new window.
