Tahitia's RootsTech Conference Diary

Tahitia is attending the RootsTech conference in Salt Lake City this week and will be posting her insights and comments here…

If you are interested in seeing the handouts from the conference speakers, then view the RootsTech 2018 app which you can do on your computer. At this site you can browse a list of classes by topic, day or skill level. Within the details of each class, you can see in the ‘Resources’ section if there is a handout provided. You can then download this onto your computer.

Monday & Tuesday Exterior of Family History Library with RootsTech posters

I ended up being very busy on Monday and Tuesday working at the Family History Library doing a bit of personal family research but primarily getting the talks that I’m giving this week finalized. It’s amazing how long this takes and how many tweaks I can make!

US Book floor at the Family History Library The Library takes up several floors and I spent a day in the British Isles (on the lower basement floor) and went upstairs the next day to the USA books section on the top floor. This area was amazingly busy by about 11.00 on the Tuesday with every computer space taken and most of the table spaces full as well. It was great to see so many people taking advantage of the resources!

Wednesday RootsTech Exterior sign The image on the exterior sign at the convention centre changes every year and it’s particularly striking this time around.

Attendees in the hall

Wednesday this year seems more busy than ever before and I took this photo looking down on one of the major thoroughfares first thing in the morning. It’s about 20 minutes before the talks kick off for the day in this photo and the sheer numbers of people getting to where they wanted to go is amazing.

I had a great time giving my talk this morning and was cheered by the number of people who came to listen to me! The Expo Hall was open this evening for two hours and we were very busy which was lovely.
