At the end of Week 2 you should be able to :-

  1. Know the various shapes that the left hand can take when playing in root position.
  2. Understand and utilise dominant pedalling.
  3. Understand and utilise suspended fourths.
  4. Play “Ray’s” chords.
  5. Play “You Took Advantage Of Me” colla voce using arpegiation.
  6. Play “In Your Own Sweet Way” in root position using questions and answer in places.
  7. Play “In Your Own Sweet Way” with a playalong.
  8. Play the sample bass line for a C blues.
  9. Attempt to improvise over the sample bass line for a C blues.
  10. Attempt to produce a bass line and improvisation over a C blues.
  11. Play the sample bass line for “Satin Doll” and add chords over the top.
  12. Attempt to produce a bass line and chords over the top for the simplified sequence of “Satin Doll”.
  13. Attempt to play chords in root position four to the bar to denote the pulse for “Satin Doll”.
  14. Attempt to play chords in root position using thumbs and inner fingers to denote the pulse for “Satin Doll”.
  15. Play “How Deep Is The Ocean” in root position colla voce.
  16. Attempt to play and improvise on “How Deep Is The Ocean” in root position in time.
  17. Know how to end some tunes using rallentandos and repeats.
  18. Understand the role of Outros.
