Case 2 introduction
This is an additional video, hosted on YouTube.
This animation highlights how different perspectives can lead to an increase in the over-diagnosis of infections and the overuse of antibiotics.
Surgeons, who are often compromised for time, often feel as though they have to use antibiotics defensively, to prevent an infection from occurring rather than treating one that has already presented.
The animation informs us that it is important to not only think about the life in front of you, but also future patients. We need to understand the problem from different perspectives so that highly personalised strategies can be developed to implement new ideas.
The resources under downloads at the end of the page are two research papers which can be read to provide some background to the animation.
In the comments below please let us know:
- What other examples could you give of how the difference in how different specialities work could contribute towards AMR?
We encourage you to interact with other learners by ‘liking’ and replying.
