Let’s recap

In this article, we recap what you have learned.

We’ve covered a lot of ground now, and you’re now well equipped with the knowledge and understanding of how to become an expert or practitioner in the wellness industry. It has never been a more exciting time to be exploring this career path, and you will probably have a greater sense now of whether it is the path for you.

With rising numbers of people struggling with anxiety, loneliness, lifestyle disease, feelings of worry and disconnection… more than ever the world needs you to share your passion for wellbeing. This career path, as you’ve learnt, is often challenging, but also incredibly rewarding.

So, let’s recap.

In week 1, we explored the many different types of experts and practitioners and opened your eyes to the possibilities that exist for you. Some of these options required ongoing education and training and with various time and financial commitments required. We gave you an introduction to the key ingredients for success in this career, too.

Next, we looked at building a personal brand and how important it is, when you have limited resources starting out, to be very focused with your efforts. If you’re not, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and overworked, which are both things we want to avoid. We looked at the power of social media as a means of researching, getting inspiration and beginning to build your own credible reputation. Further to this, we examined the importance of credibility and why it is becoming increasingly important to the clients you’ll work with.

You now know about the art of expertise, from the need to be continually learning to the importance of finding a clear specialism and niche. These are the tools you’ll use to stand out and be seen as a leader in your field, rather than blending into a noisy marketplace.

There are multiple paths you can take to monetising your expertise and we looked at these more closely. From going self-employed to utilisng your expertise via an employed role… there are various options available depending on your goals and success criteria.

In week 2 we looked more closely at the growth models available to you with respect to growing an expert or practitioner business. This required you to think about value proposiionts and what makes your expertise valuable in the first place. Hopefully, you now have a clear idea of how solving problems links to building authority in the industry, and the ways in which you can charge for this.

You also now know about the critical systems needed for success, from having a website to building a community through thought leadership and sharing of knowledge.

And finally, we looked at ways in which you can actually work with clients, from a 1:1 model through to a 1:to:many approach. You understand the difference between working directly with an individual clients and working with a group, and how this influences the scalability of your expert business.

With all of this in mind, you’re now well equipped to determine the best next action for you. Perhaps you’re ready to go and implement these strategies and get started. Or, perhaps you’re excited to find out about the other potential careers paths you can take.
