What to Expect this Week

This course looks at types of malware, such as viruses, worms, trojans and ransomware, spyware, file-less malware, and hybrid malware.

This week we’ll focus on viruses, malware, and the differences between them. We’ll also touch on the characteristics of worms, trojans and ransomware. By working through examples you will be exposed to how these are deployed in the real world.

  • identify malware based on its behavior and operation
  • collect examples of malware based on your own experience
  • explain how to use a range of free tools to investigate malware
  • distinguish between viruses, worms, trojans, and ransomware
  • describe why malware poses a significant threat to a range of entities
