Introduction to Sales Analytics and Insights


Dynamics 365 has many out of the box analytics and insight tools.


Charts are the building blocks to making dashboards. They are graphical representations of data from different views of an entity. When a view is updated, so is the corresponding chart. In Dynamics 365, there are several different types of charts available.

You can use the out of the box charts or you can customise your own. Once the chart is created, it can be used from within views or added to dashboards.


Dashboards are a collection of views, charts, IFRAMES, web resources, and several other types of graphical reports, charts, or views that give you a high-level overview of data all in one location. You can show how many opportunities closed at the same time, showing all of the opportunities that you still have pending.


When it comes to reporting in Dynamics 365 for Sales, you have many options as well. Dynamics includes many system reports that you can use to gain insights into how your business is doing. You can use these reports as is or customise them for your own needs. You can also use the report wizard to create your own custom reports.


Goal records provide a daily calculation to show progress toward a specific objective. Goals are unique from other out of the box options for rolling up data because they can contrast actual and in progress values against a target. Goal results can be displayed in charts, dashboards, and reports to help the user track their activity targets and inform managers of their team’s progress toward benchmarks and quotas.

Track Performance

If you’d like to track the performance of your business process flows in Dynamics 365 for Sales, you can use a Power BI app or tile. When accessing Power BI, you can select the app. Once you have connected it to your Dynamics 365 for Sales, you can then start analysing your business process flows.

This analysis can help you determine where you have bottlenecks in your organisation, maybe it’s time to give some people some additional training or perhaps some rewards for accomplishments.
