Enabling not Labelling

This video explores the stigma associated with autism spectrum disorders.

Chris Varney, Director of ‘The I CAN Network’, talks about the value of Enabling not Labelling. He recognises that sometimes it is not safe or easy for people to disclose.

He shares his own story when talking about how parents need to think about when is the best time to tell a child that he/she has been diagnosed with Autism. Chris stresses the importance of educating the community, enabling people with Autism to participate and acknowledging that everyone with Autism is a unique individual. He suggests that we raise the myths to break the myths.
