Can you speak Chinese

Today we are going to learn how to say the things you can do and the things you can’t do in Chinese, first let’s learn the new words.

New words

会 huì，can/ to be able to

不会 bú huì , the negative form of 会

说 shuō，to speak/ to say

妈妈 māma, mother

shuō hànyǔ 说 汉语 , to speak Chinese

Language points

我会说汉语。I can speak Chinese.

If you want to say someone’s can’t do something, you can add a “不” in front of “会”.

她不会说汉语。She can’t speak Chinese.

If you want to make a question and ask if someone can do something, you can add a “吗”in the end of the sentence.

你朋友会说汉语吗？Can your friend speak Chinese?

To answer the question, you can say : 她会说 or 她不会说。
