Language points

主 谓 谓语句 zhǔ wèi wèiyǔ jù The sentences with a subject-predicate phrase as the predicate can be regarded as a predicate clause in Chinese.

For example: 今天天气很好。

This is a complete sentence, 今天 is the subject of the whole sentence, while 天气很好 is the predicate of the whole sentence. The predicate 天气很好 can be an independent sentence with a subject and predicate.

It should be emphasised that in such sentences, the subject in the subject-predicate phrase is usually part of the subject of the sentence or related to it. The weather is part of the things and happenings today.
