Scalismo Lab: from meshes to deformation fields

Use Scalismo Lab to transform a dataset of 3D surface meshes into a set of deformation fields that can be modelled using Gaussian Process theory.

In this hands-on step, we will build upon the previous tutorial video and learn how to transform a dataset of faces in correspondence into a set of discrete deformation fields that can be analysed and modelled using Gaussian Process theory.

In the full track version, we will start by having a closer look at the difference between modelling point positions and modelling deformations between points.

We will also have a look at the difference between deformation fields defined over discrete and continuous domains and learn how to go from one to the other.

To access the tutorial document:

  1. Switch to Scalismo Lab.
  2. Select the From Meshes to Deformation Fields document under:
    Documents -> Fast track, for the fast track version
    Documents -> Full track, for the full track version
