Delivering your activity

Watch Zoe introducing the 2nd week of Improving communication to deliver activities.
this week we will be examining how those skills translate to delivering activities to groups of young people. What are knowledge and skills are needed to engage young people effectively? We will examine techniques for transitioning from one activity to another, and how to wrap up an activity. You will hear from trainee teachers and STEM Ambassadors who will talk about the first five minutes of an activity. Just how important are first impressions? You will have the opportunity to think about how to present an activity in the most effective way, to engage groups of young people, build this into a plan, and practice delivering an activity.

Last week you learnt about verbal and non verbal communication, observed and reflected on presentations and activities undertaken by others and started to think about your own approach. Now it’s time to put it into practice.

Zoe introduces this week’s activities where you’ll think about an opportunity to practise your verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Draw upon friends and colleagues to help you this week. We hope that you’ll build your confidence or identify a few aspects to develop as you get out there and do your STEM Ambassador or volunteering activity.
