Well done. You’ve completed the EIT manufacturing course on battery manufacturing. What is it that sparked your interest in learning more on batteries or other manufacturing topics? Recent trends show it’s worth the effort. The manufacturing industry is a global base for prosperity and key to Europe’s economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Manufacturing is a main driver of industrial innovation, job creation, and growth for the European society. It stands for over 2.1 million industrial companies in Europe, providing over 32 million jobs. Manufacturing of the past is transforming today into new, clean, and advanced technological environments. This new manufacturing paradigm combines intelligence with hands-on solutions, with knowledge and skills being the key attributors for success.

There are plenty of learning opportunities, and it’s hard to prioritise. With our partners, you can’t go wrong. EIT InnoEnergy will deliver a battery storage expert programme involving more than 35 experts from the EIT InnoEnergy ecosystem. They will provide you with a comprehensive view and insight into battery storage value chain, from the role of batteries and their constituent parts to groundbreaking business models. RISE Research Institutes of Sweden will soon release a battery fire safety course that explores different areas of lithium-ion batteries and their unique hazards. They can help you to understand these hazards and develop solutions. There will be practical vehicle fire safety reviews and fire safety aspects related to vehicles and assessing the fire risks.

Special focus will be on new energy carriers and the specific hazards involving their energy storage systems. At FEUP, you can apply for a course on materials and devices for energy harvesting and storage as part of a FEUP’ master’s degree in physical engineering. It provides an introduction to the current most appellative energy storage devices, with batteries as the main course topic, following a theoretical but also substantial experimental hands-on learning approach. Within the FEUP doctoral programme in engineering physics, you can also learn more on advanced materials for energy harvesting and energy storage, among other topics, following a training by research approach.

If you are interested in going even deeper about advanced materials for energy harvesting and storage, take a look at the activities of FEUP’s materials for energy research group. With Inegi, you can learn about the sustainability assessment of complex and advanced technological products, but don’t overlook the wider spectrum of industrial targeted advanced training programmes Inegi is offering on selected manufacturing topics, such as digital transformation of industry, additive manufacturing, or adhesively bonded joints. Or join the COMAU Academy, a learning factory founded in 2007. COMAU Academy serves over 15,000 people annually. Its vast offerings in the field of training for companies, professionals, and talented young people is the result of collaboration with universities and highly prestigious international training bodies.
